Understanding retreats

Time for God, prayer and a renewed heart.

Retreats are a few days set aside for prayer, the Word of God, silence, and fellowship. Stepping away from our usual rhythm helps us hear more clearly what is happening in our heart, recognize God’s invitation, and return to everyday life renewed.

Jesus himself withdrew to quiet places to pray. A retreat is therefore not an escape from life: it helps us return to it with greater peace and a clearer direction.

A welcome for every seeker

Who might a retreat be for?

A retreat may be especially helpful if you:

  • feel tired of constant pace and noise;
  • want to renew your relationship with God;
  • seek clarity about an important life decision;
  • long for deeper prayer;
  • are living through change, loss or a difficult season;
  • have walked the path of faith for years or are only beginning.

No special experience or knowledge of prayer is required. You may come to a retreat with questions.

A simple and safe rhythm

What can you expect?

  • Holy Mass and personal and communal prayer;
  • listening to the Word of God and teaching;
  • silence and time for personal reflection;
  • an opportunity for Reconciliation or a conversation with a priest;
  • simple fellowship with other participants.

A retreat does not promise a quick result. It offers time for prayer, listening and an attentive look at life. It also does not replace medical or psychological care when such help is needed.

Is a retreat suitable for someone coming for the first time?

Yes. No previous experience is required. If a particular retreat has additional conditions, they will be stated clearly on the event page.

Will I have to share personal experiences?

No. You may speak about personal matters only if and when you want to. Silence and personal boundaries are respected.

Can I come alone?

Yes. Many participants arrive alone. The program and the team help everyone enter the retreat rhythm without needing to know anyone in advance.

How often is it worth making a retreat?

There is no single rule for everyone. What matters is not frequency for its own sake, but consciously making time for God when your spiritual life and circumstances call for it.
