A call I did not plan
Edvardas Gliosas testifies that he did not plan the path that became Žuvelė. Music, sound and event technology, computers, sports, and the love of his family shaped him from childhood. Experience gained in business, together with a time of spiritual growth in the United States from 2012 to 2015, later became tools for work whose purpose he could not initially see.
Edvardas says that during prayer in the morning, clear ideas would come to him about what to do: buy an internet address, build a website, register as a volunteer, or begin a new project. This was not a voice heard with his ears. He prayed, discerned these interior promptings, and received them as God’s call, to which he tried to respond. This is his personal testimony of faith, not a claim that every thought a person has is the voice of God.
A Letter to God
On July 29, 2017, Edvardas received an interior prompting to buy the address laiskasdievui.lt, even though he did not yet know what it would be for. As the page was being created, a simple direction became clear: a letter written there should not be sent to another person. It remains a moment of personal prayer in God’s presence, and the button only erases the text.
When a screen became a bridge
In the spring of 2020, during the pandemic and the closure of churches, daily Holy Mass broadcasts began. The purpose was never to replace the Eucharist with a screen. The broadcast became a bridge for people who could not come to church at that time and an invitation to return, whenever possible, to sacramental life and a living community.
Much of the equipment was borrowed at first. People contributed through prayer, work, and donations, making the broadcasts more reliable. In September 2020, several separate efforts came together under the name Žuvelė. The website and YouTube channel grew, but so did the responsibility to make Catholic content understandable, easy to find, and capable of leading people closer to Christ.
From a link to a living encounter
The svmisios.lt website, launched in 2021, addressed a very practical problem: people had difficulty finding where and when a broadcast was available. Later, the Žuvelė website was renewed, retreats began, and the newsletter helped maintain a direct relationship with people. At every stage, technology remained a means rather than an end: from the screen to prayer, from a word heard to the sacraments, and from isolation to communion.
Different roles without competition
Fr. Arnoldas Valkauskas shares his pastoral experience, appears in shows, and leads retreats. Fr. Virgilijus Poškus helps people explore faith, prayer, and the inner life through Žuvelė shows. Edvardas Gliosas founded the project and coordinates its daily content, technology, programming, administration, and people so that ideas are carried through responsibly. These roles are distinct; none replaces another.
The word “we” in the story of Žuvelė is not used to hide authorship or work. It is a humble recognition that without priests, volunteers, donors, viewers, retreat participants, and people who accompany the ministry in prayer, no project would become a living service.
The story is still being written
Žuvelė is still being built. It seeks to remain clearly Catholic: the work of the Holy Spirit is not erased, while a personal testimony is not imposed on another person as an obligation. Christ is the center, the Church is the home of faith, and technology and creativity are simply tools that can help a person take the next real step.
